It seems entirely logical that if a key case should arise, you would like to have an odd number of justices voting so there are no ties. Pence's statement is not indicative of anything other than that.

"Packing" refers to the adding of seats to a Court in order to obtain a partisan advantage. Ergo, what's happened on the Courts over the last four years is not "packing".

The actions of the Court up to now have been entirely reasonable WRT to these cases. If a State has a law that outlines which ballots not made in person are accepted or rejected, and/or a deadline upon which they must be recieved, it is entirely reasonable to require the state to abide by their own democratically enacted laws, and not put them aside the laws for the sake of expediency (in the opinion of some).

I find it intriguing that the political left seems entirely in agreement that the election laws ought to be thrown in the shitter in 2020. Is this a general view of the political left, that democratically enacted laws mean nothing, as long as a seemingly good reason exists for ignoring them? If so, what is the point of law in the first place? How does law, then, protect the people from either anarchy or totalitarianism?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Further, I suggest you avoid reasoning in the same way Trump does. You channel Trump when you attribute to those who disagree with you membership in some evil cabal designed to steal representational democracy from the American people.

Or is it your view that classical liberalism, meaning a rule of law that limits government rather than the people, is now entirely dead, and we are now in the middle of a political death match to see which ideology can institute their authoritarianism on the American public first?

At any rate. the view that the most *fair* way to hold an election under the circumstances of 2020 is to enforce the democratically created laws of the people as written should not be controversial, nor is it *by definition* partisan.
