Not really. I think we just had a group called the “millenials” which remained single (and therefore had the luxury of staying irresponsible) for longer than any generation in history pushing the “socialist/social democrat” models.
They have now (finally) started to form households. Which is generally referred to as being “mugged by reality”; everyone takes one step to the right when this happens, historically.
And quite right, any *rapid* change in models, in a developed economy, would probably cause a decade-long severe recession/recovery cycle substantially worse than the 10year period we just ended.
