Companies that have tried that quickly go out of business. The discrepancy in pay is not business vs technical (most developers get paid about the same as marketing, HR, etc) but when it comes to two groups in particular: the upper executives and the sales teams.
Sales gets paid more because it is an at-risk job. If you don’t sell your quota, you get fired. So, you pay them more to work at risk.
And, if you have the chops to do the upper executive jobs, more power to you. You give up your personal life to do it, and you expect to get paid for the loss.
