Before the Dem party goes down this path, it should be recalled that over the last three decades, whenever the GOP have put up a candidate with business rather than political experience (going back even before Steve Forbes, but also applying to Cain, Fiorina, Trump, and others) the Dems have criticized the candidacy on the grounds that business experience does not properly prepare you to govern.

If Oprah runs and gains a substantial support following, the Dems can never make that objection to a GOP nominee again. They’ll have joined the “business experience is good experience” camp.
