And if he ever runs for president again, every Democrat, and the media, will call him an incompetent warmongering corporatist vampire who wants poor people to die. :-)
The approval of partisans for a member of the other party exists only so long as the member does things they agree with. The moment Mitt votes with the GOP again, you’ll detest him again. :-)
John McCain went though this cycle several times. When he came out against several Bush initiatives, liberal media shows couldn’t get him on enough. They applauded his “courage”, while all the time forgetting that his opposition to Bush COULD have been not “courage”, but the behavior of a petty man who was a sore loser.
And all that came full circle twice more. He was a bumbling warmongering fool again when he opposed Obama for the presidency in 2008, and then died a liberal hero because he cast the deciding vote against the ACA replacement (everyone again forgetting that the vote MIGHT have been not on principle, but the behavior of a petty man. )
Arguably, no Republican stands to gain more if Trump is rousted from office than Romney does. Consider that his vote was not “courage”, but self-interest.
