I never got any impression that Americans hate Russia and I know that Russians don’t hate America.

Amen. When we were in Kazan for 10 days back in 2015, we constantly saw Americans there for the same sporting event out at restaurants. If it was a causal restaurant, frequently the Americans ended up with several shots of vodka given to them by a local, who just would walk over to their table, say “Welcome” in a thick Russian accent, and pour them a few from his own bottle.

The average, nonpolitical American and Russian reads all this shit in their newspapers, realizes it’s just politicians being politicians, and ignores it.
