If Arab culture wasn’t so busy with infighting at the time, they could have set up their own situation.

Actually, the problem is that there is no such thing as “Arab culture”. There are hundreds of different ones, which are linked by a written language, and a predominant religion, but separated by tribal loyalties, religious denominations within the predominant religion, local spoken idioms, different faiths entirely, and broader ethnicities.

There’s a common joke you find in Lebanon and Syria once you get into the small towns. The small towns all have their individual dialect of Arabic that they speak, after all. So if you see somebody you don’t know come into your town and speak your dialect perfectly……they must be CIA. :-)

But there broad issues are something that are not talked about, or simply ignored by eurocentrics. When you compare european development to any other in the world (Arab, Indian, Chinese, African) yes, the Europeans did a lot of things right that nobody else in the world did right, during the second millenia AD.

Kudos. But it’s not productive to sit up in our virtual mansions, sitting on most of the wealth in the world, and harp at everyone else, saying “Why weren’t you people more like us?” Well, they weren’t. Now, what’s the path forward?

No one ever talks about that; the total failure of Arab culture over the last 500 years.

Well, by european standards, every other culture in the world “failed”, except for european. That’s kind of my point.
