A few years ago, we had a similar case in Texas, and they pop up all around the country from time to time.

In this incident, a high school party at a very nice country club ended up with the 18 year old team quarterback who had several athletic scholarship offers (translation — hot high school commodity) diddling a 16 year old girl. There was no shortage of testimony that she was the instigator, and alcohol was involved.

Didn’t matter. Kid loses scholarships, goes to jail, is now a sex-offender for life.

You would think that somebody would consider the fact that drawing the “permissible-impermissible” line at age 18, when hormonally-crazed teenagers both older and younger than that age are forced to co-exist in a small society known as a high school, is a bit nuts.
